Baby Furniture

Is there going to be a new addition to your family? You will need baby furniture for that special room. The baby furniture required in most nurseries consists of a crib and/or bassinet, a changing table, chest of drawers and a toy chest. The most popular color for baby furniture is white which can easily be painted pink or blue depending on the gender of the baby (if, in fact, you wish to make your baby furniture gender-specific).
Often, the diaper changing unit is place on top of the chest of drawers. It is useful to have two small side drawers for supplies such as baby wipes, lotions and pacifiers. Your newborn can begin by sleeping in a bassinet and later can make the transition to a full-sized crib. Adjustable cribs are sold in most baby furniture stores, and units that have various height levels are quite popular, along with cribs that can eventually be turned into a child's bed that can accommodate a seven year old. Although these units cost a bit more, this type of baby furniture provides the best long-term investment.

Make sure that all of your baby furniture is child proof and safe for your baby. Avoid tall armoires and bookcases that can fall on a young child. Make sure that the mattress in your crib is made of approved materials and that your finger fits snugly between the mattress and the side of the crib. Your baby furniture should not be coated in lead paint, but with safer paints, and every unit should be free of paint chips.

Baby furniture is usually the easiest type of furniture to find used, so if you want to save some money, don't be afraid to buy second-hand items. If you don't like the color, you can always repaint it. If you want to get rid of your baby furniture, you can always bet that there will be someone who is willing to buy it, and if the delivery date is fast approaching, you will probably find a good price for it.
