Outdoor furniture

Outdoor furniture represents“summer”, and, beginning in spring, a new “room” is added to most homes in the form of a patio, poolside or garden. Outdoor furniture can be characterized by fun or elegance, and can be made out of virtually any material, from plastic to teak wood.

A typical outdoor furniture combination consists of a round table and chairs made of white plastic, black or green iron mesh, wicker, bamboo or wood such as red cedar or teak. The chairs usually have cushions fastened to them in virtually any color or design from classic stripes, to bold tropical designs or solid colors. Many outdoor furniture combinations include an umbrella that matches the seat cushions and can be fitted into the center of the table.

A variation on this theme is a red cedar or teak wood octagonal table with V-shaped benches connected to each side. Picnic benches are a more common choice for outdoor furniture, usually made of weather-resistant woods. For sunbathing, a chaise lounge is a perfect choice and also can be made of virtually any material. Many are adjustable to allow you to sit up and read or to lie back completely for a quiet nap.

The hammock is a father's favorite outdoor furniture. These are often twisted from rope and tied between two trees, but there are many varieties made of canvas and which include their own iron bases. A porch swing or rocker provide comfort and fun for young and for old and can be made of quality wood or wicker.

Outdoor furniture can be unique as well as functional; there are many popular novelty items for outdoors, such as cast iron love seats, which include two curved seats facing each other across a heart-shaped arm-rest. Teak banana benches with their fun shape are great places for the kids to sit before they dive in again for another dip.
